Rob discovered a great new medium for making custom gaming mats that is a lot less heavy (and cheaper) than the material we used to make the Plevna mat. I am going to redo my Stones River mat using this new material but I wanted to up my game on painting the woodlands and clearings terrain on the mat. I found an art academy in Cedar Park and after talking to one of the art instructors, I am going to enroll in a small group class that has highly individualized instruction. 12 hours of instruction for $160 which is not a bad price I think. I'll let you know if it makes a significant difference in my custom mat making skills.

Just got back from my first art class. I feel like I got my money's worth and then some.
